About Us

Columbia’s Kitchen opened in the Village of Cherry Hill on Valentine’s Day, 2006.  We have been feeding Columbia and customers as far away as Texas for three years and look forward to serving you, also!  If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

Services

Assembled kits are always available.  Our Anytime Menu represents our basic pantry—the things our customers request the most and therefore the items we try to always have on hand.  We also feature seasonal items that change hourly.  We try to meet customer requests and keep from getting bored by always trying new things, so many of these items will only be featured in the store—our way of always making every visit fresh and exciting!

Columbia’s Kitchen also offers limited catering and personal chef services, and is proud to partner with Sara Fougere Catering for more elaborate events, and loves to refer people to our upstairs neighbor Event Solutions for complete event planning services.  Please contact us for any questions.

General Cooking Guidelines

All our kits are assembled and frozen.  Many can be cooked the same day.  Stovetop entrees are very easy to thaw using a water method, right in the bag.  Simply open the outer storage bag, remove anything that doesn’t need to be thawed, like pasta, or spice cups, add hot water to the bag, and massage until thawed.  You may have to change the water several times, but most items will thaw in about 15 minutes this way.

Frozen oven dishes generally require additional baking time.  Most of our oven kits may be cooked in the aluminum pans in which they are packaged.  However, aluminum is a poor heat conductor, so for best results, place pan on a heavy cooking sheet, or stone.  Also it is very easy to transfer frozen product to your own pans for better baking (and of course, so no one knows you didn’t slave in the kitchen all day!).  Also, while the paper tops are technically oven safe, they are also paper, and therefore flammable.  We absolutely do not recommend baking with these covers if you plan to leave the house.  And, to be completely safe, discard the paper top and cover with heavy duty foil if covered baking is required.

 Prices

We understand that life is complicated, so we try to keep things are simple as possible.  All our entrees are priced the same, $12.99, plus tax, or six for $67.95. Sides are generally $7.99, or $4.49 and we keep other retail items that are item priced.  For that reason, each entrée is generally designed to serve three average adults, but the actual volume of food varies with the cost of ingredients.  Our crab cakes have almost a half pound of the best crab we can find in each order, so they are a smaller amount of food than spaghetti and meatballs (as long as pasta doesn’t keep going up like it has been!).  But in general each of the entrée cards in the store provide guidelines for servings and nutritional information.

Also, we do occasionally accept members into our Supper Club which is our special pricing loyalty plan.  If interested, feel free to ask about the next possible openings.

 Ingredients

We use the finest ingredients we can find from real Ceylon cinnamon to imported pastries, and the best local products we can find—Show Me Beef and Patchwork Pork.  We will happily do our best to work with clients who have special dietary needs, but for many reasons we are not able to accommodate clients with severe food allergies.

We try as hard as we can to reduce fat, sodium and sugar in most of our recipes.  Virtually all our recipes are trans-fat free, but due to popular demand, we have not exiled puff pastry from our kitchen and we are not able to find a trans-fat free puff product.  However, we will keep looking!
